My work involves an investigation of how we dwell in and occupy architectural space, specifically our home environments, and how we are formed by our experience of place. What is the impact of architecture on the self? How does our experience of the built environment help form us? How do we remember space? Are memories, in Paul Connerton's phrase, 'sedimented into the body'? Do we carry around these memories, this molding of self and personhood with us?

I aim to create work which is 'conceptual' (ideas-led), but which is also sensual, and evokes memories and emotions in the viewer. By focusing on the process of making art and by creating 'narratives' from which the art emerges, I hope to question exactly what art might be, as well as the status of the art 'object' or 'product'.

Installations

Clear (2007) was a site-specific, temporary installation at the Women's Library in London's East End, celebrating the history of the building as the site of a former washhouse. The installation took the form of several large drawings, drawn in pencil on walls and a short film.

Seen (2006) investigated the history of Homerton Hospital in Hackney as the site of a former workhouse, and took the form of five life-size windows drawn directly on the wall, using text. The text was taken from archival sources, newspapers, articles, contemporary sources and two short stories.

Names (2005) listed the names of some of the people who had lived in the workhouse formerly on the site of Homerton Hospital. The names were written on a corridor wall, and then erased (as a filmed performance).
